UNICEF StartUp Lab 2024 – Details
It is a six months programme offered by UNICEF, as mentioned earlier, that is looking at working with startups that aim to have a social impact globally and in Ghana. It should be noted that the business model of applying startups has to be centered around getting a minimum of one SDG with the potential of benefiting kids and youngsters in Ghana, especially from vulnerable communities.

The StartUp Lab of UNICEF is now seeking its next cohort of 25 technology-driven social impact startups building within Education, Health, Urban Services, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), Child Protection, Climate Action, Finance, Blockchain, Agriculture, and other Frontier Technologies (AI/ML) and Cybersecurity.
UNICEF in Ghana leads this programme and it is supported by KOICA and implemented by MEST Africa. The programme provides a novel service by integrating hands-on and intense business acceleration through wide-reaching technical expertise and systems knowledge in the social sector.

Eligibility Criteria for UNICEF StartUp Lab

- Your startup has to be a registered business in Ghana (no NGOs, foundations, or individuals).
- It (your startup) has been operational for more than one year.
- The startup is laced with technology as the core enabler of the business.
- The startup should have a business model that carries a social impact that addresses at least one of the Sustainable Development Goals.
- Startups or open-source solutions that are willing to open-source their solutions will be particularly encouraged to apply.
- Females are encouraged to apply meaning that the startups with female founders/co-founders are encouraged to submit their applications.
- The programme (UNICEF StartUp Lab) has been designed to include startups from all regions of Ghana.
- Startups that are relevant to EdTech, Health Tech, Climate Action, Urban Tech, Fintech, and WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene) are strongly encouraged to apply.
