The Vienna Center for Logic and Algorithms (VCLA) is pleased to invite applications for the Helmut Veith Stipend from exceptional and motivated female Master’s students who wish to pursue one of the programs in the field of Computer Science conducted at TU Wien. These programs are taught in English in one of the below semesters:
· Winter Semester 2024/2025
· Summer Semester 2025
Each year, the Helmut Veith Stipend is offered to outstandingly talented and motivated female students in the field of computer science who pursue (or plan to pursue) one of the master’s programs in Computer Science delivered (conducted) at TU Wien and taught in English and have (or have the interest to develop) a strong mathematical and technical background minimum in one of the areas in which Austrian scientist Helmut Veith worked.

Eligibility Criteria for Helmut Veith Stipend at Vienna University of Technology 2024
Applicants have to be eligible for admission to one of the Master’s degree programs in computer science at TU Wien. These programs are conducted in English. In the academic year 2024 – 2025, those are:
• Master in Business Informatics
• Master in Logic and Computation
• Master in Media and Human-Centered Computing
• Master in Computer Engineering (Technische Informatik)
• Master in Data Science
It should be noted that by the time the applications for funding can be submitted before or in parallel with the process of admission. The funding will only be conferred to those applicants who have unconditionally been admitted to the postgraduate program (Master’s degree program). This should also be noted that the application submitted for funding does not replace the admissions procedure; neither does a funding conditional offer entitle the candidate/applicant to study at TU Wien.
Female applicants/students who meet the below conditions are considered to be eligible to apply for the stipend:
Undergraduate (Bachelor’s) degree in Computer Science or Mathematics (Bologna first cycle) or equivalent degree.
Having massive technical and mathematical knowledge and interest in (minimum one of) Helmut Veith’s research areas:
- Formal Methods and Verification
- Algorithms and Complexity Theory
- Computer Security
- Logic in Computer Science
- Foundations of Artificial Intelligence
The applicants/students should be proficient in English.

Associated Financial Benefits Under Helmut Veith Stipend
Those successful applicants who are awarded the scholarship will receive:
• Exemption from all tuition fees at TU Wien.
• 7000 Euros per year for up to two years duration.
