About Tomorrow’s Leaders Program
The program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) with funding provided by the U.S. Government. It offers undergraduate and graduate scholarships to outstanding students from socioeconomically underserved backgrounds who represent the religious, cultural, and geographic diversity of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

The Tomorrow’s Leaders Program has made partnerships with the MENA region’s prestigious and leading American-style universities for more than 17 years to equip participants with the practical skills and knowledge required for effective leadership.
By attending world-class universities, Tomorrow’s Leaders will foster their critical thinking and strengthen their ability to get creative solutions to the challenges faced by their communities, the world, and the MENA region.

Participating Universities Under Tomorrow’s Leaders Program
The following universities will participate in this prestigious program.
- The American University in Cairo (AUC)
- The American University of Beirut (AUB)
- The Lebanese American University (LAU)
Eligibility Criteria
If you want to apply for this opportunity, you need to meet the eligibility criteria. Only the applicants who are citizens of Bahrain, Algeria, Iraq, Egypt, Jordan, Libya, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia, Syria, Yemen, and West Bank/Gaza are eligible to apply. The citizens of the U.S. and U.S. legal permanent residents are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.
Undergraduate and graduate applicants have to meet the following requirements as well:
Undergraduate Programs
- Present high school senior or 2022-2023 graduate – For applicants who are from Syria, Yemen, Libya, and Iraq – the applicants who graduated from high school in the year 2021 or 2022, their applications will be accepted. Those who graduated in 2020 or earlier are not eligible to apply.
- Current high school seniors need to maintain their high academic achievement besides, they also have to pass their leaving exam.
- Applicants have to show their proficiency in the English language (written and spoken). They need to prove a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 80 received within two years of admission date (September 2024).
- The applicants will also have to demonstrate their financial need. They need to be underrepresented or economically deserving students and also need to complete the financial statement of the Tomorrow’s Leaders Application.
- The applicants should be ready to travel and begin their undergraduate program in August/September 2024.
- Their academic credentials must be strong.
- They should have adaptability, maturity, and leadership potential.

Graduate Programs
- The applicants are required to provide evidence of academic English proficiency as required/needed by the relevant graduate program.
- The applicants should commit to completing their Master’s degree within the timeframe of two academic years.
- They should demonstrate their financial need. The applicants have to be underrepresented or economically deserving students. They should also need to complete the financial statement of Tomorrow’s Leaders Application.
- The applicants are required to travel and begin their graduate program in August/September 2024.
- They should be mature, adaptable, and have leadership potential.
About TOEFL/IELTS Test Scores Required for Tomorrow’s Leaders Scholarship Program
To submit your application, there is no need to take the TOEFL or IELTS. However, for the shortlisted applicants who get shortlisted after interviews in January will be assisted to take the TOEFL in February. If the applicants decide to take the IELTS/TOFEL on their own before November 30, 2023, they can include their scores in their application.
