Scholarships and fellowships are offered by the A*STAR Graduate Academy to enable young aspiring scientific talents so that they can pursue their research passion in science and prepare them for a rewarding/beneficial career in R&D.

As far as The Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA) is concerned, it is a collaboration among the Agency for Science, Technology & Research (A*STAR), the National University of Singapore (NUS), the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), the Singapore Management University (SMU) and the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD).

PhD Training will be held in English to be done at the student’s selected lab at A*STAR research institutions and NUS/NTU/SUTD/SMU. Once the students complete their PhD, they will be awarded a PhD degree by either NUS, NTU, SMU, or SUTD.

Note: SINGA is primarily intended for international students studying in Singapore for the first time. Singapore permanent residents, Singaporeans, and international students studying or who have studied in Singapore tertiary institutions are not eligible to apply. A*STAR might include additional criteria for selection based on prevailing policies for scholarship. These policies could be amended without notice from time to time.

Financial Coverage Under SINGA Scholarship 2024

This award offers support to selected students for up to 4 years of PhD education including:

Monthly stipend amounting to S$2,700 which will be increased to S$3,200 after the passing of the Qualifying Examination*
Tuition fees
S$1,000 for one-time settling-in allowance
Up to S$1,500 for air tickets grant

* It should be noted that these rates will only be applicable to scholarship awardees commencing their PhD degrees from January 2024 onwards. Periodically, terms of awards are reviewed, and prevailing terms will apply to awardees of SINGA commencing their PhDs from January 2024 onwards. On-campus accommodation priority usually will be given to first-year students.
