The scholarships are offered to applicants who are from 30 eligible countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Applicants can attend one of the available study programmes conducted in the English language at one or more universities of applied sciences and arts or Flemish universities.

Eligibility Criteria for VLIR-UOS Belgium Scholarship

Candidates who meet the following VLIR UOS scholarships in Belgium requirements* may apply for an ICO Connect Scholarship.

Country of Residence and Nationality: Interested candidates are required to hold nationality from one of the eligible 30 countries (they can check the VLIR-UOS scholarship country list) and live in any of these eligible countries by the time the application is submitted (though not necessarily in their country of origin).

Age: There are age brackets that need to be met. Applicants for a bachelor’s or initial master’s programme should not be older than 35 as of 1st January of the intake year, whereas the applicants for an advanced master’s programme should not be older than 45. In addition to that, applicants for a bachelor’s programme have to be a minimum of 19 years of age by 1st January of the intake year.

Experience and Professional Background: It needs to be understood that preference will be given to those applicants who are employed in government, higher education, or civil society or those targeting a career in one of these mentioned sectors. Those who are newly graduated candidates or the ones employed in the private sector with no work experience could also be taken into consideration, provided that they provide compelling profiles and strong motivation.

Scholarship Applications: It must be noted that the applicants might apply for only one ICP Connect Scholarship per year. They cannot receive any other grant or scholarship to participate in this study programme or any other programme at the same time.

Previously Awarded Scholarships – If the candidates want to apply and avail this opportunity, they might not have earlier (previously) received a scholarship from the Government of Belgium to attend a study programme not might they have enrolled in any study programme at any higher education institution in Belgium prior to 1st January of the intake year.

Funding Availability for VLIR-UOS Scholarships

Under the VLIRUOS ICP Connect scholarships, the following coverage will be offered (mentioned ahead).
