Eligibility Standards for PhD Scholarships
Applicants with higher grades from their universities will be given priority by the department. To be considered for this scholarship opportunity, the applicant must:
- Possess a basic education at the Master’s level (corresponding to the 3 + 2 Bologna process)
- Have obtained a grade of 10 or its equivalent for the master’s thesis as per the Danish 7-point grading scale.
- Hold a weighted GPA of at least 8.2 on the Danish 7-point grading scale for the bachelor’s and master’s degree programs combined or alternatively a weighted GPA has to be at least 9.5 for the master’s degree online. Remember, if the GPA is not met, the applicant’s documentation for being in the top 40% of the class will also be taken into consideration (accepted).
- Have earned their master’s degree before commencing the PhD program at CBS.
- Master academic English at a higher level in speaking and writing.
- Show the aptitude to complete the required coursework in the subjects of advanced economics.
4+4 PhD Scheme
- For getting admission to the 4+4 PhD scheme, the interested candidates must have earned/obtained a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent and have passed subjects corresponding to 60 ECTS in a related master’s program within the subject areas of CBS.
- For the complete or whole program, the minimum weighted GPA is 8.2 on the Danish 7-point grading scale (for example for the complete bachelor’s and one year of the master’s degree together), and at least the grade 10 for the thesis of the bachelor or equivalent final examination project. If the GPA is not met, the applicant’s documentation for being in the top 40% of the class will also be accepted. The Admission Office will assess those applicants who are not enrolled in a master’s degree at CBS.
Employment and Salary for These PhD Programs at CBS
PhD scholarships for international students are packed with higher salaries and benefits. Let’s learn the details. The PhD scholarship will run for 3 years and instead of a teaching load, the PhD students will be expected to contribute 20% of their time to the deliverables of the projects and their dissemination.
It is to be noted that the obligation will be equivalent to 6 months’ work (624 net working hours). These scholarships are fully salaried positions. The monthly salary of the chosen applicants will be approximately DKK 28,993 up to DKK 35,015 depending on seniority and a pension contribution that totals 17.1%. The scholarship gives coverage for office space, tuition fees, travel costs, and course costs.

Application Process for PhD Scholarships for International Students at CBS
The application has to consist of a five-page project description. The research proposal needs to be carefully prepared by the applicant carrying a presentation of the original research question, a description of the theoretical framework and method, a presentation of the proposed empirical material, and a 3-year work plan. The copies of the following documents must be attached.
