Eligibility Criteria for the OIST Research Internship in Japan 2026
- All international students (all nationalities) are welcome.
- Those students who are presently enrolled in their last two years of a bachelor’s degree, enrolled in any year of a master’s degree in colleges, universities, junior colleges, and vocational schools in Japan or abroad, are eligible.
- Those who have graduated with a bachelor’s or master’s degree programs are also eligible to apply.
- For the OIST Research Internship in Japan, currently enrolled students must have approval from their home universities/college/institutions. The academic background of the students (applicants) needs to be appropriate to their desired host unit(s) at OIST.
- This internship program is intended for those who require detailed/comprehensive research experience and who are interested in joining OIST’s doctoral (PhD) program later.
Note: Research interns who belong to a university/institute in Japan must prepare and bring their own insurance when accepted to this internship program.
