Commonwealth Youth Awards 2025 – Details

With a joint collaboration between the Commonwealth Foundation and the Khalili Foundation, the two entities have joined hands for the 2025 awards to offer additional grants and prizes to the ones who are eligible applicants.

Main Objectives of the Commonwealth Youth Awards

One of the main objectives of these awards is to highlight contributions, recognize and celebrate the exceptional contributions of youngsters to promote a future built on peace, fairness, sustainability, and prosperity.

Another objective is to encourage youth-led development and foster an ambiance that encourages and sustains investments in empowering youngsters/young leaders to drive change in their communities and youth-led development initiatives. Other objectives include showcasing talent and creativity, motivating and challenging youngsters, providing special recognition and support, and recognizing peace and development efforts.

Requirements for Nomination

The eligibility criteria consist of the following details, the applicants are required to follow them to apply for the Commonwealth Youth Awards 2025.

The nominee needs to be engaged in development work for last more than one year either in a voluntary capacity or professional work.
The applicant/nominee needs to be a citizen of the commonwealth and the development work has to be taking place in a commonwealth member country.
The nominees must be in the age group of 15 to 29 years on 31^st December 2024.
There is an option that allows the individuals to nominate themselves or be nominated by someone who can describe accurately their development work.

Available Awards

For each commonwealth region, there will be four finalists with the top entries receiving the regional winner award. The Pan-Commonwealth Award will be offered to the top Regional Winner and the winner will be named the Commonwealth Young Person of the Year 2025.
A £1,000 grant, a trophy, and a certificate will be received by the 20 regional finalists.
An additional £2,000 (a total of £3,000), a trophy, and a certificate will be offered to 5 regional winners.
An additional £2,000 (a total of £5,000), a trophy, and a certificate will be offered to the Pan-Commonwealth winner.
There are 3 peace awards as well to be presented by The Khalili Foundation to youngsters working in peace and development. The Commonwealth Foundation will offer additional grants based on eligibility.

Deadline for Application Submission

The last application submission date is 18^th October 2024. It is advisable to submit the application as soon as possible.

Application Process for the Commonwealth Youth Awards 2025

Winners of the awards will be announced during the commonwealth week in March 2025. For the application process, you need to register an account on the official announcement and then start your entry (you have the option to save the application in-progress until you are all set to submit). Then you will be able to submit your entry before the deadline approaches.
