Eligibility Criteria for the Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship

· The applicants must be a high school senior in the United States, currently enrolled in or the one who has completed a high school or college dual degree program where computer science is the subject. Those who have not taken this course can opt in to take an assessment offered by Amazon

· They must be authorized to work in the United States. Example: permanent resident, employment authorization document holder, or U.S. citizen

· The applicants must demonstrate financial need. This opportunity is provided to support students with a substantial need for financial help (financial assistance)

· They must be planning to obtain an undergraduate (bachelor’s) degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, electrical engineering, or another computer science-relevant field of study from an accredited 4-year college or from a 2-year college with the intent to transfer to a four years college

· They have at least a CGPA average of 2.3 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)

Financial Benefits

As far as the Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship amount is concerned, the candidate’s unmet financial need will be covered up to a maximum of $10,000 per year. Once a candidate is chosen as a recipient, the AFE Scholarship Program will go through the candidate’s financial aid package to determine how much funding is required.
For instance, if a candidate’s financial aid package depicts that the candidate has an unmet need of $8,000 per year, the program will provide the candidate with $8,000 amount in scholarship. Therefore, if the unmet need is more than $10,000, the program will offer the maximum set amount of $10,000 per year.
Remember, the awards are renewable for up to 3 years or until the undergraduate degree is obtained, whichever happens first. The condition of the renewal is contingent upon the student continuing full-time enrollment at an accredited institution or university and maintaining good standing with the university or college.
